Walther Gyssling, the chief engineer of the BDRV, was pleased when he presented his report about fiscal year 1877 to the members. In the last five years, none of the more than 1,000 boilers inspected by the association had exploded.

At the beginning of December 1869, the copper manufacturer Abraham Lissmann stepped to the podium at the “Polytechnischer Verein” – “Association of Polytechnicians” in Munich. Lissmann chose his stage well, as the audience included some of Bavaria’s most respected scientists and technicians.

At the beginning of October, 1868, Karl Isambert, a twenty-nine-year-old engineer, joined the Association. He became the Association’s first full-time technical control expert in Meinheim.
