Steel certification
What is Steel Certification?
Steel certification represents an independent assessment and confirmation that certain steel products meet defined technical specifications and standards. This process includes testing, inspection, and evaluation of production processes to ensure consistency and quality.
Why is Steel Certification Important?
- Trust: Certification builds trust between manufacturers, suppliers, and end-users.
- Quality: Confirms that steel meets high-quality standards.
- Safety: Ensures that steel products meet safety requirements.
- Compliance: Enables compliance with national and international standards.
- Competitiveness: Increases product competitiveness in the market.
SRPS EN ISO/IEC 17065:2016 – Basis of Certification
Standard SRPS EN ISO/IEC 17065:2016 represents an internationally recognized standard for bodies that perform certification of products, processes, and services. This standard sets requirements for the competence, consistency, and impartiality of certification bodies.
Key Aspects of Certification according to SRPS EN ISO/IEC 17065:2016:
- Competence: The certification body must have expert staff with appropriate knowledge and experience.
- Impartiality: The certification process must be objective and impartial.
- Consistency: The certification body must apply consistent procedures and criteria.
- Transparency: The certification process must be transparent and accessible to interested parties.
- Monitoring: After certification, regular monitoring of compliance is performed.
What is the Steel Certification Process?
The certification process typically includes the following steps:
- Application: The manufacturer submits an application for certification.
- Assessment: The certification body assesses the production processes and tests the steel.
- Certification Decision: Based on the assessment results, a decision is made to grant the certificate.
- Monitoring: Regular monitoring of compliance is performed.
Steel certification, based on the SRPS EN ISO/IEC 17065:2016 standard, is a key element for ensuring quality and reliability in the industry. Choosing an accredited certification body is crucial for achieving trust and compliance.
Conformity assessment activities in accordance with this Regulation, at the request of the manufacturer or his representative, are carried out by a designated body.
TMS CEE performs the conformity assessment procedure which includes: factory production control, initial type testing and continuous surveillance of factory production control and control testing. Conformity assessment activities are carried out in cooperation with the Laboratory for Materials, which is an integral part of the Institute for Materials and Structures of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade, and the Institute for Testing and Control, which is an integral part of the GOŠA Institute in Smederevska Palanka.
The certification or conformity assessment procedure performed by TMS CEE is described in document TMS PR 05, General rules for certification of steel products for concrete reinforcement.
