1948 - Re-established in the west
While technical security in the Soviet-occupied zone became the government’s responsibility, a control association in the west could be re-established.
Initially, they operated in an essentially unclear legal situation of unofficial recognition but tolerated by the Allied authorities. However, after the re-establishment of the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany), most of the regional organizations rejoined the association in 1948 and 1949.
Based on the new charters, the West German TÜV organizations became autonomous again. The principle of voluntary membership again replaced the mandatory membership that was introduced in 1938. years.
