​Biodynamic winemaking – possibilities and challenges

The annual conference ofthe Association for Biodynamic Agriculture of Serbia was held in Vrsac from 8thto 10th December.

The foreign speakerswere Nicolas Joly from France, the world authority for BD winemaking, theauthor of several world bestseller in the field of viticulture, the owner ofthe 12th century Coulee de Serrant vineyard and Monty Waldin from the UnitedKingdom, another world authority for BD wine, author of several worldbestseller in the field of viticulture.

Orators from the regionand Serbia, Aci Urbajs from Slovenia, Bojan Basha from Fruska Gora, Laszlo Bonifrom Hungary had their exposure. Čedomir Nikolić, an organic producers’inspector, spoke about the conversion and certification of organic vineyards infront of the certification company TMS CEE. Čedomir explained the process ofintroducing the producer into organic viticulture, the certification process,pointed out the potential risks and possibilities of how to overcome them.

Nicolas Joy summed uphis philosophy in one sentence: “The wine is made in a vineyard. Full stop. Idon’t do anything in the winery. “
