At the third international conference on food and beverage safety “What are we eating?”, which was held on May 31 at the Hilton Hotel in Belgrade, organized by the certification and control body TMS CEE, Mr. Nenad Dolovac, adviser to the Minister of Agriculture, opened the conference and stated overview of the situation in the field of food safety in Serbia today and pointed out that it is within the European framework. He also stated that national regulations are being harmonized with European ones, which is not at all an easy task, given that 2/3 of all regulations that need to be adopted relate to the field of agriculture. He stated that the National Milk Laboratory has been opened, which will enable significantly better monitoring of producers in this area.

Mr. Nenad Vujović, assistant to the Minister of Agriculture, stated that the transition from the old model to the new model of inspection supervision, based on risk assessment, has already started to give positive results in the field of inspection supervision, and thus the more effective work of the agricultural inspection in in accordance with EU standards

Also, the panelists gave presentations with important data and the latest knowledge about trends in IFS certification, safety control of aluminum packaging, designed food of animal origin, the importance of the integrity of the certificate, dangers in food and how to prevent them, organic sugar, defense against food fraud, quality of raw milk, the quality of drinking water in the 21st century, the importance of selenium intake in the body, as well as the IPARD program.
